The invite button wasn't there until a few hours ago. I think they turned it on sometime this morning.
As for the masking gmail address, no, I don't think what you want is possible. I believe your gmail address can have any amount of '.' (dot's) in them though so maybe you could hide it that way. Upon googling my email it doesn't appear to matter much where I put the periods. Sorry i couldn't be of more assistance.
What anyone needs to do is invent some sort of email cloaking service where you set it up with your real email but give out your fake address. You can communicate like normal you just always email the service which in turn emails the person you want to talk to. It's seamless to you, just hit reply in your client and also seamless for the person on the other end but they never get your real email.
