Based on the way Baucus handled the health bill and that he comes from a state that is pretty conservative, I don't think he is a particularly good choice. I hope Polosi puts Barney Frank on the committee.
Not really wanting to start that debate again, but if not for Baucus we'd have no health care reform law in place. He was the original advocate for getting cost containing measures in place. The bill passed is not perfect but is a framework upon which future improvements can build. As is the case with all major social legislation in our country.
In the spirit of not getting into that debate again, I'll just say that I think that any positives he contributed were way outweighed by the negatives.
