Ha! That was the first thing I that I thought of too. But then I'm not sure you'd even need both hands to count how many people here have ever seen a sign painter or calligrapher ply their trade.

Yes Virginia, even today, some lettering is done by hand (Even if it eventually ends up digitized and grist for some type of computer aided manufacturing or other output).
