"The tea shrub is an evergreen plant from the Camellia family. The two main species of the family from which tea leaves are obtained are Camellia Sinensis, Sinensis type and Camellia Sinensis Assamica. "http://www.pickwicktea.com/INTL/TheWorldOfTea/Teashrub/
My sister says there are two types of tea: Builder's and Lesbian's.
Builder's tea is black tea, from the tea plant, usually served with milk and two sugars.
Everything else is Lesbian's. All the herbal infusions and fruit concoctions and other plant extractions.
Personally I think that only drinks made from the leaf of the tea plant(s) should be called tea. Everything else is a herbal infusion or something. It bugs me when someone asks me if I want a cup of tea then they ask what kind!?! Tea! I'll have tea, thanks!
I drink 8-10 cups of black tea a day. I gave up smoking. I'm not giving up tea too!
The only exception I make is for Earl Grey, because it was my Granny's favourite and the smell of bergamot brings me happy memories.
