I'm not currently where the iMac lives, so I can't check if the trash folders are included right now. But wouldn't both of the disk inventory programs show what's in the trash folders for each of the users? Then they would be included in the total space used that these programs report. Both programs show even the hidden files, so I'd be surprised if they skipped what's in the trash folders.
