Everything old is new again! Yay!

On a positive note. I can say that HDD Fan Control works perfectly. My fans idled down almost before the software finished installing.
Glad you found a fix, but it should not have cost you $30 just because you had to replace a dead drive, which should have lasted longer anyway.
