Probably using incorrect search terms, but need help with iPhone 4s, iOS 6 screen lock during phone calls

This is new, and annoying, and unwanted. 2 minutes into a phone call, the screen "locks" and I have to swipe (not enter my password) to do anything, including end the call.

Is there any way to disable this "feature?" Been searching around but not finding much.
