It's funny, I read this thread earlier; I was reprogramming with the remote on my cable/DVR box because it lost the setting to adjust the TV volume. Then I thought about seeing if it could handle my old JVC MC-X5 mini system; I found a setting that adjusts the volume and switches preprogrammed radio stations. Then I realized it's at least 18 years old which is my oldest still-used almost everyday technology. Nothing like what you're saying, but stereo stuff can have some longevity...
