"Stand Your Ground" has been successfully used in cases where the victim was shot in the back
#22
"Stand your ground" means that you are allowed to use force, even deadly force, because you feel threatened -- without having to prove afterward that you attempted to flee and could not, which some states require you do to qualify for self defense. In short, all you need is to feel threatened and you are legally free to shoot first and ask questions later. It's obviously a crazy law that was very badly written, and intended to encourage people to consider guns their first line of defense as opposed to their last. It virtually cries out for everyone to arm themselves in order to be able to stand their ground against anyone who might stand their ground. It's an NRA wet dream.
