Obama responding to Republican lies

[quote=Black]OK, so have we not seen "good momentum" in the private sector, or are we back to square one on this one?.

IMO, neither. I'd say that we've moved off the bottom and are going in the right direction, but we are not out of the woods yet. A continued upward path is not assured. Things are not fine - yet. They might be if things continue to go well. It's too early to claim victory. It's too early for 'fine'.

And that's coming from me - I'm not one of the people he's trying to win over. The whole point of the press conference was to show that he's working the problem - he's on the job. But all that most have seen is him with a big 'Mission Accomplished' banner behind him. What a disaster...

But you WILL admit that it was an incredibly stupid thing to say - right? There were a million ways to make the point he was trying to make without, "I'm not concerned about the very poor" being a part of it.
Yes, incredibly stupid, sure . . . but I don't know of anyone who speaks publicly as much, and sleeps as little as a presidential candidate, so I can forgive a moment of verbal stupidity now and then.
