Many lines of CFL's have three color ranges of bulbs, some brands lists them as "soft white", "bright white" and "daylight" in the order of lowest to highest color temp. It sounds like you have mostly ones that would be called soft white. Try the bright white or daylight types, they tend to be "whiter", though some can be too "blue" for some people's taste. I find mixing soft white and bright white bulbs in multi-bulb fixtures works for my purposes. Bright white works where I need a work light kind of illumination.
P.S. I find some bulbs got "yellower" when they got older, but those are several years old and not sold anymore.
