I only put the first 5 characters in as well. Even if you put in your full UDID, there is no other connection to your name, phone #, etc., so what does it matter if someone has that alone and nothing else?
Years ago, I got a call when I was on another call and the caller ID said "Sammy Hagar" and a phone number. I called it back later and indeed, it was THE Sammy Hagar (I got his voicemail), yet even with his #, I could get nothing else from just his cell #.
