The only possible exception is hydrogen gas combustion, but even then NO can be formed.

Shouldn't be any worse than ventless gas logs, that are in probably millions of homes.

I'd take a Mr. Heater over a Kerosun heater but then again we have 3 fireplaces, one with a new insert woodstove.
