I saw a sodden box of Twinkies on the floor of a supermarket a few blocks away, as I peered through its doors on my walk down Avenue C the day after the storm. It was flanked by several pies that had apparently floated about and come to rest near the door. I had no idea at the time of the greater tragedy to come: that these storm-tossed Twinkies might be among the last of their kind.
