Yeah, but much of the rice comes from the Sacramento area. The wetlands area that I use to go to all the time was a part of the region. Twice I saw federal agency types out there testing the water.
Asked one of them what he was up to. Asked him what he thought of the proposed fishing limitations (one or two a week, none for pregnant women - something like that) and he said that he wouldn't eat anything that came from the area.
Why not?
Mercury and Arsenic (from mining)...
So perhaps it's one of those "Choose your poison" situations....
But I suppose that eating rice from the area is very different from eating fish from the area... but still...
