I'd buy the electronic version (Kindle) if it's available.

I have already re-bought several dozen books I already had on paper from the Kindle store (more convenient to have an entire series on one device).

Home-made pirated PDF ebooks have too many weird formatting errors, though often you're stuck with them for out-of-print books.
