Cell phone/service advice - legacy Verizon unlimited data iPhone 4
#1
Now that the iPhone 6 is almost out, it's time to evaluate my existing Verizon service - two lines, 750 minutes, unlimited 3G data, 25 cents a text, two iPhone 4 32GB phones. Main purpose, making calls, taking photos/movies, sending Messages/google voice texts (don't currently have an SMS plan), web surfing, email, FaceBook. Generally use less than a GB of data a month.

I hate to give up the data plan no the principal.
I'd like a new phone. One of the phones must be replaced with a newer model iPhone. I prefer to avoid 2-year contract and must have something on Verizon's network due to local geography.

Which newer iPhone do I buy?
Which other phone do I buy, the Nexus 5 and Moto G models have all intrigued me? I've been tempted to move to the prepaid plans to save money - current bill ranges between $133 and $140.
