Yosemite incoming call

Today I received a telephone call from my father. The call rang on my iPhone, my iPad, and my laptop all at the same time.I answered the call on my laptop and we spoke for a few minutes and then I switched to the call to my iPhone. Very very cool.I assume this works via Wi-Fi. What happens when I am away from home? Will it auto magically work via Bluetooth or does it just stopped working?
