Getting rid of introduced species

Just how big are the herds of wild horses where you live? The wild horses I'm familiar with run in relatively small herds (although there are multiple herds in the same general area) and with no human intervention thrive on land that would barely support a quarter of the number of cows as horses that are currently there.

It sounds like the collared asian dove made a nuisance of itself by being noisy and brought the ire of the local human populace down upon itself.
