Where did my thread go?

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book... the second book, less so. The self loathing of Ender got a little tired. Not that I didn't understand his motivations, just that it got tiresome.

Oddly enough, I had the same complaint about another series of books that I also thoroughly enjoyed - but thought the main character dwelt on feeling sorry for himself too much: The Seafort Saga by David Feintuch.
