So you going to do a chrome bumper conversion to shed some excess rubber weight?

It's pretty costly to switch from rubber bumper specs to chrome bumper. First of all, there is a significant amount of sheet metal and painting work to be done. Then, there's the issue of lowering the suspension to improve the handling of the car. After that, you're still stuck with the anemic rubber bumper engine, which requires new pistons, carburetors, manifolds, and a distributor modification to come even close to the power of the older chrome bumper models (which is what I have). If you want the performance of a chrome bumper model it makes much more sense to buy one than to try to convert a rubber bumper model.
