THe other issue is that Apple appears to be using more proprietary drives in their machines. So, if you buy an SSD, it's not necessarily going to work properly in a newer mac. 'course, an SSD in a USB 3.0 case is still worthwhile if a new machine already has an SSD and USB 3.0. It'll make cloning the drive for backups via SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner that much faster. Smile
