Chrome is 32bit only?

"Ill advised" because you didn't fix the underlying problem before the upgrade.

OS upgrades tend to exacerbate problems rather than fixing them.

I am having difficulty with your logic Chakravartin, Safari was working prior to the upgrade so what underlying problems are you referring to?

The upgrade had nothing to do with Safari, it was made because some of his clients had security concerns regarding his outdated OS and his business involves plastic injection molding that is in direct competition with the Chinese and as a result he has been the target of documented attempts to get inside his firewall. (This is company with 35 employees and annual revenue in the multi-millions that runs exclusively on Macintosh computers). Another vendor handles his security issues, I only deal with the remaining aspects of his Macintosh computers. We always approach upgrades cautiously as something like this incident can quickly cost him a lot of money when his system is down. I spent almost a full day prepping the computer before installing the upgrade using all available utilities including command line AppleJack and others I have learned over the past 15 years and all indications were that the system was healthy. So your logic defies me, Safari was working pre update, after update not working and even senior Applecare advisor was unable to fix.

Regarding your comments on the people sounding off in the apple forums I know how to filter out the chafe on forums and identify serious issues affecting many users. One of the simplest yardsticks is the lifespan of a given thread on the forums, when a thread has continued new postings on the same subject for two or three years then in my simple mind that is likely something to take notice of. Both of these particular issues on Safari, the upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard and the ongoing memory leak have long histories going back several years, so I think there really is a problem that is not to be so quickly dismissed.

Looking forward to your reply.
