yeah, but when i'm on a flight wifi access is usually $7.95 just for that flight. when it's $5 i'm more inclined to spring for it. $5 is probably a good tipping point market wise. about the cost of a venti latte or a big mac and fries. my friend has had situations of being out with folks and the group can't decide on a restaurant. in those moments she'd like to check yelp or something. (she doesn't have a smartphone. doesn't want one.) if you do it often it doesn't make sense. sometimes i just want a taste of potato chips and i'll pick up a 59 cent bag. the $1.99 bag wouldn't have been a better buy but i didn't want that much.
one wouldn't be able to do much more than surf and get directions. the money covers a day or 250MB - whichever ends first. wonder if there's an overage provision.
