Seeing max's Spoils of Summer thread ( http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1...sg-1872346 ) below made me hungry for produce and got me wondering- are there vegetable salads that don't contain green leafy stuff of any nature?
I don't get out much, culinary-wise, so I don't know if salads like that are standard anywhere. I thought I might get some a couple large tomatoes (no cherry tomatoes!), a cucumber, some radishes, a red and a green bell pepper, an onion of some kind (purple?), then slice 'em up, and put a vinaigrette (non-Balsamic) on it. Maybe toss in some flaked tuna? No carrots, chick peas, or garbanzos.
It's just that going anywhere and ordering a salad gets you *lots* of leafy vegetable matter that I'm tired of wading through. Except for a good cole slaw salad. Even using spinach, it just seems like filler.
Just a random wonder.
