Which adapter/port do I need to Connect this Monitor?
#1
Back in an earlier thread I mentioned I bought a new Acer K272HUL monitor from Newegg. Well I have it and it's hooked up to my 2.0 ghz 8gb 10.6.8 early 2009 C2D Mini which Apple says will support up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on a DVI or VGA display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on a dual-link DVI display using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter.

The new display supports 2560x1440 native with DVI, HDMI and Displayport inputs and it came with a cable for each. However, the DVI cable appears to be a dual link DVI-D as opposed to single link DVI-D and everything I've read says this is a dual link monitor to be able to support the higher resolution.

I bought a 6' mini Displayport to Displayport cable thinking that would give me max resolution but it gives me a picture with wide black bars on each side (I'm assuming this is the single link output). I then hooked it up to the mini DVI to DVI adapter (that came with the mini) to the dual link DVI cable that came with the monitor and got full screen 1920x1200 picture.

Monoprice sells the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter but it's $71! Am I looking at the wrong adapter? What do I need to get 2560x1440 from the mini?

Thanks.
