dropping back an OS with a "new" MBA
#12
FWIW:
using my TimeMachine backup, I restored from my current 10.8.5 MBA (mid 2011) to my "new" mid '13 MBA with no issues. Took about 25 minutes.
I haven't fully tested it yet, but so far so good.
Only loss, out the free iWork and Garage Band. But M.Office 2008 will suffice and I'm a ProTools abuser.

I booted off a USB 10.8.5 made like this.

Using the Disk Utility version.

I also made a new USB boot for Mavericks last night. More or less the same method.
They both reside on a 16G Kingston stick.
