To be safe, you might just want to get then to male you a pair of single vision distance lenses and then order an inexpensive pair of readers.
I think you would have no trouble wearing bi-focals, but if you don't want to try anything new, I would understand.
The line in the bifocals becomes invisible in just a day or two. I had to wear bi-focals when I was in second grade, and mine were the split right across the middle kind. After a day or two, I could not see the line, even if I tried.
It's not that I don't want to try anything new, it's just that I'm heading into the 6th week of trying to adapt to progressive lenses and I'm getting very tired of it. This second set of lenses have a worse "swim effect" than the first pair and consequently I'm getting more dizziness and and nauseousness from them which makes them more difficult to wear. On top of that and all the other visual distortions that are present I've gotten a headache every day of the week I've been trying to adapt them. I'd be happy if I could just get my money back but that's not possible.
Oh, I understand and didn't mean that you didn't want to try anything new, but that you were just burned out and needed a rest. As I said, I think you would not have a problem with bi-focals, because there isn't the distortion involved, like can happen with progressives. Bi-focals just have two lenses in one frame, basically. That said, your safest route will be to get two pair of glasses. My husband opted for that and is perfectly happy. I would get them to make your frames into the distance glasses, and then order a cheap pair of readers or computer glasses, or both, from Zenni. You might even order a cheap pair of bi-focals from Zenni, to see how you like bi-focals. It would be a cheap way to find out if bi-focals are the way to go. Good luck with whatever you decide. Hardly anything makes me feel worse than if my vision gets messed up.
