The story of Star Wars is a classic read - they used 5 or 6 different film types, edited them altogether, for the Master.
No one - and I mean NO ONE - expected it to be more than a cult hit so they didn't bother with the Master.
And by the time someone realized that the Master had been pulled out so many times to make the first copies, it was in sad shape.
