MR Forum Fit Club: I gained weight and chased U.S. Marines

As of today, I've lost about 25 lbs. in five months. 238 to 213. I'm about 5' 8" and I just turned 50.

My method: eggs only for breakfast (mix in a little chicken meat or cheddar occasionally).

Walk 1.5-3 miles a day. Even if I'm running late, I will walk a half mile just to reinforce the habit. Starting to work in some jogging and considering the Couchto5K thing.

Pay attention to calories and portions at lunch and dinner, but don't deny myself anything I really want. Avoid bread and pasta unless it's really homemade and a special treat.

Don't drink alcohol absentmindedly. If there's a real, social reason to enjoy a glass of wine, have a half glass. Or drink liquor with no mixers.

Oh, and my other secret: I swear this makes a difference! Cold-Brew Coffee. I'm a coffee snob and love good beans. I've started drinking the bottled stuff (*my favorite is Slingshot Coffee out of Raleigh). No need for cream or sugar (another calorie cut) no Splenda (who knows what it does to your body) and it increases my metabolism all day long. I cut it with water to reduce the caffeine - it's like a more invigorating iced tea.
