The studies showing harm from estrogen (actually estrogens and progestins) were based on non-bioidentical hormones, often extracted from horse urine. There have been no similar studies on bioidentical hormones. However, there are many reports that biodentical hormones are effective and safe. A quick, if possibly biased, overview, is here:
