Ok, I'm taking a deep breath and digging into the new iTunes even though I find the new interface horrible. With a lot of work I think things are improving. Here are some overall thoughts that I sent my dad who is also fried over the update.
Most of the things I don't like have to do with my default view being changed which seems correctable.
To give it credit I do think there is a speed increase which I've been asking for a long time.
After a lot of work I got the column viewer back for music so that area of itunes looks almost just like it did before.
Adding the column viewer to tv shows makes it look almost like it did before.
Movies looks weird because of the lack of playlists on the left but functionally it is about the same I think.
Playlists are weird because there is a “playlist” button in each media type view but it shows the same thing no matter what. So if I’m looking at Movies, click playlists, I see all my playlists. If I’m in TV shows, click playlists, I see all my playlists etc. It would make a lot more sense if I only saw playlists applicable to each media type.
I don't like how the view can be changed in four different areas. I'm all over the screen trying to change things.
Another thing I don’t like is editing metadata. If I import a video without metadata I am unable to edit or even see the old fields. I assume this is a bug but it is really annoying.
