I completely disagree - when I was a kid, I vegged in front of the tv A LOT, but I was always watching it and was always watching something I wanted to watch. If I couldn't find something to watch on any of the 4 available stations, I'd turn it off and do something else.

also, the stuff I watched tended to be 30min programs that ended every 30min - a perfect opportunity to consider if there is something else that I might want to do.

To me, the internet never ends and there are times even now where I have to 'tear myself away' from the screen. I'd be a hopeless slave to the computer/internet if I were a kid today.
