talking about HBO, I checked my Comcast options: too good to be true?

space, some of what they're offering you is in exchange for locking you into hardware (WiFi router) and more proprietary cable boxes.

There's really no way to "sort of" get TV from them, you either don't, or you're pulled to be all in, in such a way to remain there because of all the related functionality it does.

Yes it's only $5 more but in the end, after awhile you'll probably be looking at something like $100/month vs. ~ $55 just for IP. And maybe that's OK for you.

Seems to be some small flaws in the analysis. I have Comcast Internet and own my modem. If space drops TV, most likely his internet shoots up to $70ish, not $55. There's no down side of that plan for space. $5 more per month for HBO seems like a good deal. Your suggestion is to have space pay $70 for Internet and then $15 for stand alone HBO.
Here in GA there's no longer an IP-only penalty from Comcast like there used to be, and NJ Comcast prices are cheaper yet. They still want to bundle here of course, and make it worthwhile for people already interested in subscription TV.

I don't know that I was necessarily recommending anything, especially a $15 standalone service that duplicates coverage elsewhere.
