He's talking about old-dog geniuses at that rate. Sounds underpaid to me. I hope they do make that considering how many people they bail out of trouble.
I know a lot of former Geniuses. They made nowhere near that. A Genius job will barely cover rent and transportation in a decent-sized city. A two-income household is a necessity in that situation. (Or move back in with your parents.) Trading favors for food quickly becomes a habit.
I guess it's more like $20 an hour according to glassdoor.com. (Roughly 42k a year)
NYC area is $25 an hour. (Roughly 50k a year)

That's enough to live on your own if you live in the outer boroughs.
