I just nuked and paved an HP craptop that one of our 'guests' had borrowed. And loaded with malware and pr0n and gaming crapola. Heh... took a full day running on its own to download 1,423 (!) Microsoft updates for Win 7 before I could load Win 10.
10 seems snappier, but after getting rid of all that garbage an IBM PC/XT would have felt snappier. The interface is disorienting.. I'm used to Win 7 at work. But it's not as disorienting as Win 8 was.
To expound. You know where Windows fails? I mean just topples over into a pile of goo. Updates. It's a painful process on every machine I've ever needed to support, if you have to run all the updates from scratch. I wish Microsoft could roll up the updates a bit cleaner. Hopefully Windows 10 is better in this regard, but Windows 7 was not, and I don't remember Windows 8/8.1 being much different (although, my experience with the latter is much reduced).
