I'm going to do some more reading I think. I already tried Acer tech support and the Indian guys summary after 20 minutes was "So you would like to use the full resolution available?". Useless.
Yes, but Jack's Mac seems like it is the device limiting the output. Every tech document I can find from Apple, EveryMac, etc lists maximum output only over dual-link DVI from that Mac mini. I can't say for sure because I never used such a high resolution screen with my Mac mini of the same vintage.
