thinking about using a cheap android tablet as a jukebox
#1
Anyone else doing this? I bought a bluetooth set of speakers that sit about 10 feet from my mac, but the sound still cuts out more frequently than I'd like. Tried AirPlay with an Airport Express, and had the same problem. Most of my music is NOT in iTunes. I use a variety of program to play music, VLC being one of them. What I was thinking of doing was putting a bunch of music on a MicroSD card, sticking that card in a cheap android tablet, and hooking it directly to the speakers, which do have an auxiliary input. I have a tablet someone gave me, but it only takes up to a 32GB card. I tried a 128GB card, but it didn't seem to recognize it. I see the Amazon Fire tablet will take up to a 200GB card, and it's less than $50 new. It would give me a half decent visual interface to play my music.
