Heh... I worked with a guy who flew Navy F-4's in Vietnam. He referred to "Sphincter Factor" a lot.

He kept some of the mission audio tapes... he described one..

AC Marshaling Status chatter
AC Launch chatter
Aloft strike assembly chatter
"Feet dry"
Then radio silence for many minutes.
Then "SAM ! SAM ! SAM !" from one guy. and then..

"WHERE ! WHERE !" from EVERY other pilot.
