I remember seeing the Airplane at a small club in Boston in the spring of 67. Surrealistic Pillow had just come out. I had not heard of them before, but by the summer they were all over the radio.
There is something about experiencing a group in a small club that has more resonance for me than the big stadium shows. Kantner was more real for me, so it hits harder. The same goes for Pamela Brandt of the Deadly Nightshade.
