Should I buy a waffle iron?

I grew up in the '60's, and our family had one of the electric reversible waffle iron / grills. The waffles were 4"x4", and that type is still sold. It was mostly used for pancakes, the two flat grill surfaces provided plenty of space for making many at a time. Waffles came out okay if you paid attention to the heat being fully recovered between each batch.
