Remove the cabin filter. Check it. Vacuum it off. Put it back in. Done.
Remove the air filter. Check it. If it's gunky, replace it. If not, don't.
Most places that recommend replacing the filter don't even look at it. They just go by manufacturer's recommendations. If you live where it's crazy dusty, that's a good idea. If you don't, it's a waste.
