But Cbelt is correct - check first, most of the time they are fine unless you travel dirt roads a lot.

Or live in a city like Atlanta that floods the air with pollen. When the pines get going it can look like the whole city has been covered in sulfur dust.

And I've found bits of detritus in our cabin air filters as well. Actually glad these aren't going into the vent system. We have one old car where I occasionally pull leaves out through a cabin vent.
