Anybody like Progressive for auto insurance?
#16
As a comparison, my son got hit by someone last December who had State Farm. In pretty much all of my experience trying to deal with State Farm they were unprofessional, occasionally rude, and would not listen to logic. Finally had to turn it over to my insurance company to deal with them. Would strongly recommend avoiding State Farm.

I checked rates with USAA last year, and did not find them to be particularly low, although I know they have a great reputation. I was looking for homeowners and office lease coverage as well, and it seemed like they wanted me to deal with 4 or 5 different departments, one for each type of insurance, which was too much trouble after finding that I'd not lower my auto rates.

I'd look at Progressive, but we have a pretty good deal right now with a newish company (PURE) that gives us a break on auto for having homeowners with them. That would strike me as the disadvantage of going with Progressive over a multi-line company: most multi-line insurance companies will give you a break on both homeowners and auto if you get them together.
