No clue how getting Tboned has anything to do with blinkers. Thats like saying Im vegan so I must be an excellent juggler.
OK. Here's an explanation for you.
1. Two lane highway; one lane in each direction
2. You begin to slow to make a left turn at an upcoming intersection - showing no signal whatsoever
3. Car approaching in the opposite direction at full posted speed (let's say 50 mph)
4. Both you and the other driver mistake circumstances; you misjudge his speed as being slower than it is, he fails to perceive that you have begun to slow (although if you're showing no signal, your speed on the other side of the highway does not represent anything to which he will need to respond*)
5. You start your un-signaled turn when he is at a distance where he, at the speed limit, no longer has enough roadway to stop before striking you
Result; you're T-boned
*as in:
- you've slowed to make a right turn at the intersection; no need for him to slow
- you've slowed to look for a street address; no need for him to slow
- etc.
