So sorry to hear this, cbelt. A message everyone needs to heed. Here's to a speedy, full recovery for your son.
It is my fervent hope that someday soon, texting and driving will be looked at as morally shameful just like driving impaired. When I do interviews for safe cycling/driving, this is the message I try to subtly communicate...that it's morally reprehensible. ("You don't want someone's death on your hands...you're 2 tons and someone on a bike is a few hundred pounds...) Without preaching of course. Cyclists are perhaps the most vulnerable people in the texting/driving equation.
I'm sure cbelt meant nothing patronizing about his message above. A father's deep concern, love and I'd guess major frustration and angst is all. I imagine he implored this to us because we are all influencers in our own circles in some way. I can tell you that because of this, I am reminded to post a FB message/graphic about not texting and driving which I'll do in the next few days here.
