Radiator and iron pipe update. Fairly ugly.

Ditto Muffin. If the broken pipe is indeed cast iron then re-threading is nearly impossible. I would guess it's actually 3/4" galvanized steel and hopefully you can turn out and replace that length. if you can't get a pipe wrench to grab the stub sticking out of the floor then use a nipple puller available at your local hardware. Install a new piece with pipe dope. From your picture I'm not sure you tried valve disassembly in the right order which would have been to hold the body from turning at all with a large wrench while loosening the nut on the pipe sticking out of the radiator. A progress picture should have shown the valve body still mounted upright in the floor pipe but freed from the radiator connection. Then one wrench on the pipe and one on the valve for removal (from the looks of it the floor pipe probably would have disintegrated anyway). Good luck.
