Cause of MBP heat stroke?

I pulled my HD and replaced the optical drive in my 2008 MBP after experiencing much the same thing.

Best to just get a big SSD vs keeping the HD in the optical bay.

The MBP is not designed to deal with the heat from a HD in that bay.
