It's probably a mouse, just give it time, it found it's way in, it will find it's way back out, or it will explore until it finds some other large area like an attic or garage (or inside your house). Its likely looking for nest building material, but eventually will want food and water and look for it's way back to it's normal environment instead.

I had to get a bird out of my house the other day (a small sparrow too), it probably flew into the garage when the doors were open for a few hours the day before. We have an attic over the garage with pull down stairs and the stairs were down. The next morning I heard chirping from the attic and the bird was try to escape through a roof vent because it saw light there. It was very persistent. So I opened both garage doors and just left it alone. A few hours later it must have decided to try other options and found it's way down the attic stairs and out the garage door. I inspected the vent area with a mirror and saw no sign of it there, and the chirping was gone too, so I was confident that it really left on it's own.
