The problem that I've observed thus far is not that people have to replace their old dongles with USB-C dongles. It's that there are only 4 USB-C ports.
After some rejiggering, this is how I've set up one client and how I expect to provision many more:
1st port, client has Gigabit Ethernet/HDMI-to-display/USB-A-to-keyboard-and-mouse on a single multiport adapter. (Requires 3rd party driver for Gigabit.)
2nd port, client has power from Apple power adapter.
3rd port, client has a USB-C backup drive.
One port free!
